Firemouths And Pink Convicts

i have 7 convicts and 4 firemouth in a 55 gal tanki have a couple hide spots and going to add more shortly so far there not fighting.. my questions are

1. will they stay like this or will they fight
2. will they cross breed
3. what breed is the meaner
4. i wanna live plants what ones are good
5. i wanna put sand in for the substrate what should i use

One thing.... DISASTER. You can't keep that many Convicts in one tank. I say the biggest male will choose his partner first and kill everyother Con in the tank, and if the live in harmony, the tank will be overun by babies till crowding fits in and waste load picks up and dead fish. Maybe you could keep a pair and 2-3 FMs. Then add dithers and maybe, if you want, a large (10-12 inches) fish as a centerpiece. Correct me any one if you don't agree.

i have to agree with the above, your asking for a disaster with that many aggressive cichlids in a small space. if you wanted them to breed which for the life of me i can't think why unless you plan to feed the young to other fish. i would remove all bar possible two females or one male.

Agreed with all above but not about the 10-12 inch fish this is kind of severum size and they need a 75 gal minimium. I would just scrap all the cons IMO keep the FMs and build a community around them

I have seen Adult Con Pairs kill a Adult Jag....so deffo the Cons are more aggressive when mature.

My current cons dominate my tank which consists of Green Terror,Texas,Veija Argentea and Jack Dempsey.
