Fire Extinguiser To Co2 Container

After going through about a month of looking for a metallic pressurized container (you know, those metallic ones that look like SCUBA tanks) and not finding any that suit the size I need, I stumbled upon a fire extinguisher. Is there a possibility of taking the top off the extinguisher and replace it with my current CO2 valve? Has anyone done this before? If this is not possible, do you have any suggestions on where I can get some sort of container to suit my needs? It must be about 40-50 cm. tall and about 10-15 cm. thick...

Yes it is possible but not something I'd try at home. I've seen it done some time ago now but can't remember where I saw it. Is there any reason why you want to change it though? If you just remove the horn on the extinguisher then a standard CO2 regulator will fit fine. This is what I have done along with many others.
