hello there guys. Just a quick question. What can i keep a fire eel with.

Ive got a juwel vision 180 with 4 mixed corys all relatively small, one siamese fighter, 2 denison barbs, 2 blue rams, an armano shrimp and 6 rummynose tetras

1st of all is my tank big enough.

and secondly are the fish ive currently got and the eel compatible???

your tank will not be able to house a fire eel for life. they need say, 180 gallons and yours' is 180 litres. you might want to look into smaller pieces of spiney eels such as peacocks, half-banded, or zebras. fire eels and tire tracks are not suitable for your tank size.

for the second question, it would depend alot on the size of the eel. large eels would obviously pose a greater threat.

Agreed ^. I have mine in my 100G at about 11'', and he's fine for now. I'm looking into a 240G for life, as they eventually reach about 3'. Although fire eels are generally peaceful, I would not trust them with cories, who max out at a signifigantly smaller size, and tetras, who are bound to get eaten.

lol no, the frog is my lil buddy, he was accepted in this tank by the others, but he was large when I got him, anything smaller would be food.

When I am feeding, or changing the water, the frog comes up and sits in my hand, and he allows me to stroke him, pretty friendly really, but is a very cool froggy

That's a nice tank, I always thought it would be cool to make "marine" freshwater tank.

I have a 22" fire eel, they do need the room to move around in and I have to echo the views shared by the others, in that your tank is not big enough.

Here is a vid of my tank, and fire eel.

Nice eel. i have one about 2 ft long as well. he is housed with a 2 & 1/2Ft Arowana, a 2 ft Clown Knife, and a 2Ft Marble Pim Cat.....The eels are very friendly, and very easy to care for.

the fire eel is a softy, he bothers no one, shows no sign of aggression and never gets into anything at all.

I tend to feed him on bloodworms, prawns and flake.
