Fire Eel

Hi,
I would like to get a fire eel however, in one book it says it would reach 20cm which wouldbe fine and in the other it says it would be 66cm. Please could yuo set me straight on this as im hoping to get one this weekend.

i just bought a 32 gallon uk.It will be just one fire eel on his own species tnak.

Mine is approx 26" or 65 cm and I dont think he is fully grown yet.

If you still like eels in the same family as Fire eels (mastacembelids) there are other eels available to you! Check out the peacock spiny eel for instance.

how big do they grow and can they be housed with other fish. Any pics

peakocks only grow very small (mine is about 8") but they are very thin. I have a 11" fire eel and a 17-18" fire eel. They are both homed in community tanks.
