130gallon and I have both but with a tank divider and I know I have to get rid of one when they reach adults??
Both will get to big for the tank so i'd sell both and get either a puffer you can house (by itself) or get one of the smaller spiny eels

Wat if I get a bigger tank will 300 gallons be good???
And in ur opinion which one wouldyou keep?

i thought fire eels were okay in a 130g? also those puffers only grow 17 inches, i say "only" but if the tank has 20 inch width i would say thats good enough. what does annoy me is when people just say get rid of them, i mean even if the tank is ideally big enough its sure is better than selling it to someone who states to have a 250g or bigger and goes in a 60l. i would keep the puffer as it would be harder to rehome. also i do like puffers.

I know that's what I thought too??????
And well do you think I should just keep both?

Fire Eels are not ok in a 130g and will need a bigger tank/ The fahaka will out grow a 130 20inch wide hardly gives it room to turn around how is this ok?
What's the point in keeping them knowing that they're only going to get to big and have to be rehomed in the end anyways? If you can't house the fish and have no gaurantee or upgrading then don't get it. Simple.

The amount of threads on this site and on others where people say well i will get a bigger tank of x amount of galons and then nothing materialise's is ridiculous! like i said if you cant house is for life when you get it then dony get it to start with.

And no you cannot keep both, puffers are generally a solitary fish and should not be mixed.

If you have a 300g tank then great put the puffer or the eel in there if not then don't keep either.
there are smaller eels and puffers that can kept in a tank your size so makes sense to get one you can house (either eels or puffers not both).
