Hi,

I have reacently 2months or so got a fire eel from a mates mate, he says he had it for two years or so i a larege tank, problem is its only about 8inchs long is this normal? Also it only eats blood worm thats what i was told when i try different stuff he not that intrested but when the blood worm gose in he gose mad for it, my worry if blood worm is not good in nutritus for it and to eat this and only this worrys me slightly. What can i give him to get him to grow, or is it likely he never get any bigger??

Earthworms. They love earthworms. You shouldn't have much trouble getting them to take strips of squid, prawn and tilapia fillet, especially if you use long forceps.

Eight inches after two years is tiny.

You are right that is tiny for 2years.. oh what about black worms??i got my fire eel he never ate nothing till i introduced him to blackworms he did love his earth worms they were just too messy.. is there anything to make them grow??? i have a 3-4 inch but hes only like 2mnths old my 13 inch grows slowly is that normal?

Fish grow throughout their lives. However, they grow fastest when young, and over time their growth rate slows down. It is very possible this fish will never real "full" size even though it will continue to grow somewhat. In other words, don't worry about making her bigger than he is; simply focus on giving him the best environment and diet you can.

Tame spiny eels will eat from forceps, and if you feed earthworms that way, they shouldn't make too much mess. They are the single best food for spiny eels though.

Insect larvae of all types are fine, so use freely. They aren't very nutritious though, so you either need to use a lot of them, or supplement with small pieces of seafood and tilapia fillet.
