Today sucks. I was gathering up my boys for their bi-weekly water change and I found my husbands fish dead at the bottom of his tank. He was a beautiful crown tail. I have no idea why he died. :byebye:

I am going to leave his 2.25G home empty for now. I will think about getting another boy next week perhaps. I may move one of my boys that are in a 1G bowl to his tank after I sterilize everything. I am not sure yet.

RIP Kasanth :rip:

ya it sucks finding out some one elses fish died. my cousin(the guy that got me my first betta) had me watch his fish one weekend an he left late that night. so i went to sleep woke up in the morning to feed his fish an one was dead :( i called him right away an told him-hes really understanding "just flush him an clean out his tank will ya?" thats all he said an he gave me one of his bettas for telling him as soon as i found out :D had that sucker for 2 years till it passed away. last couple weeks were really bad too. ich one day. fin rot the next. as soon as it got better it passed on :(

Sorry R.I.P. could be a number of thing i'm afraid, no chemicals got into the water, like sprays or anything.

No chemicals have gone near any of my tanks. I shy away from cleaning chemicals all the time, except when I am cleaning my bathroom. Hubby called while I was cleaning tanks. He is out of town on business ATM. He isn't nearly as attached to the fish as I am. He is more than happy to let me do what I want with the tank.

He was acting a little strange last night, so he probably died during the night. He is up on my husbands desk, so I didn't notice until I took him down for a water change.

Not near any open widows.

No the fish wasn't near any open windows. He showed no signs of disease and was swimming happily day before yesterday. I had another betta do basically the same thing. I changed his water, went and ate dinner, came back and he was dead. I didn't do anything differently at water change time, and he was swimming happily afterward. I found him nose down tail up. Kasanth was laying on his side. I looked his body over and saw no obvious signs of disease or anything. I am not sure what caused it, I doubt I will ever know.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I appreciate it.

Definitely go get your water tested. It sounds like a water problem. It could be something that just popped up... happened to Saucy. Now she can't use her own tap water.

If that was the case I would have many dead fish on my hands. The other boy that died after a wc died a couple of months ago. This one died before I changed the water. All of my other bettas are fine. As are my other fish. In total I have 10 males, 12 females and 2 community tanks. I change everyone's water on Saturday or Sunday, and the boys get their water changed at least one other time during the week.

I wish there was an explanation for his death, but there just isn't unfortunatly. I wish there was as it would make it easier on me.

i had a betta die very simularly, he looked great wen i fed him that morning but in the evening i found him lifeless at the bottom of his bowl. it could be a number of odd things that happend to cause it but it really sucks because you dont know what happend and you worry about teh rest of your stock :/ its nerve racking for sure :S
