:hyper: This morning, I looked into the tank and noticed 3 Balloon molly fry! I was so excited! My male Dalmatian molly bred with my female orange Balloon molly on July 8th and was pregnant for 58 days! Last night she was acting very aggressive! She kept on chasing and nipping at the oher fish . . . but now I know why! Anyway, the fry are so cute! They have black bodies and orange heads

Congratulations........ :D

We have a load of Dalmation Molly Fry and are not sure of what the father was (they were pregs when we got them)..........

.......but some of them have a nice orange sheen to them...........but there again, they are only about 10 days old............

wow breeding of different types when they get bigger let me know what they turn out to be molly or ablooned. i love baloon mollies you see

:) The fry have plump little bellies, so I think they're going to grow up like Balloon mollies.

Wow!!! I can't believe I found this thread so easily. I've been looking after these fry now since April and I've been wondering many times what they are. Up till June I've been convinced that they were Guppy fry because one of my female guppies looked pregnant and I was assuming that they were hers.

I had bought a white female ballon molly two weeks before the babies were born and she didn't look so good for a long time. A few days after the babies were born she died and I thought she was sick the whole time so when she died I didn't think anything of it.

I have 7 baby fry whom are 4 months old and 4 of them are white with a rounded shape resembling a ballon molly however they have black spots on them! The other three have a more elongated shape and do have rounded bellies.

Looking at these pictures:

I think I've finally put the puzzel together, the mother was a white ballon molly and the father was a dalmation molly and hence we have a combination of both.

Cool!

Are these fish fertile I wonder?

there's no reason they wouldn't be fertile

both parents are mollies - they are just cosmetically different.
