The tank is a 20gallon long and it will be planted pretty well and will be stocked pretty full.

Objectives:

1) low maintenance (maybe weekly maintenance),
2) cost effective
3) good for long run

Please support your poll choice.

Concerns:

1) if I have both filters will my tank be over filtered? If so could I make my bio/aqua combo filter?
2) would it be better for bio and mechanical filtration if i just go w/ canister filter?

I'm not sure what you are saying. If you are looking at a canister I would go for canister 100% since you can choose what type of filteration you want and you could also put one of the small penguin100 bio-wheels and just let it run without any mechanical filteration if you wanted for the bio filteration part. And you can't have to much filteration, you only have to make sure you don't have to big of a current for you fish when you have large filteration.

i think i screwed up the poll.

the options were 1) use biowheel

2) use aquaclear hob

3) use both an aquaclear and biowheel

4) try and make one of those aquaclear biowheel combo's, except a new smaller version of any that I have found online.

5) use fluval 104/rena xp1 alone or with another filter. comments if you recommend this option

thanks, apologize for the confusion
