I'm suspecting my Tatsumi has finrot. I'm hesitant to buy the finrot meds at the moment because it's not too severe a case yet. I beleive, thanks to a few other posters, that I found it before it got critical.

I heard some people use tea tree oil (I have some here) and something about waterchanges? indian almond leaf?

Ok.. as you see... I'm remembering little bits of info from all over. Who can tell me how to treat Tatsumi the natural way? Ummm I dunno what indian almond leaf is or where to get it LOL.

I use colloidal silver ,can't say I've ever had to deal with fin rot but I HAVE purchased bettas with fin rot and silver does marvelous things for them

All natural, you can buy it at any health food store, but I must warn you, it's pretty pricey for the good stuff. That's also where you'd find almond leaf ;)

Thanks for the concern OG :)

Tatsumi's tail hasn't gotten any worse, meaning that I'm doubting it was fin rot afterall. No discoloration along the torn areas of his tail.

He has managed to even out the tail now (maybe he felt he needed a fin trim? LOL)

As for being obsessed with his tail, I have to say he still chases it now and again, but not nearly as constantly as he was before. I'm suspecting that because the tail is much shorter, it's not as fun for him to do anymore.

He's still very very active and just loves to flare at his reflection in the acrylic tank when I turn off the room lights and leave his tank light on.

He's quite the character! I just adore my tank puppy

Sounds like he's admiring his handy work in the reflection to me!

"I did a good job with these fins, wonder what I'd look like with a fringe?!"

Glad to hear all is well!

:D
