Hi all, I'm a bit of a newbie & was hoping for some advice.

I have two lovely bettas, but one of them has fin rot. I have always used Stress Coat & MelaFix to condition the water, so it has never gotten too bad, but I would like to get rid of it completely. I picked up some AP Plus+ Anti-Fungus drops the other day...I was wondering if anyone has had luck with them? Some say they're fantastic, others say they don't work at all. His fins don't seem to be any better, in fact, they may look a little worse. I've been changing his water the past few days, too.

Thanks!

I've used AP Plus Anti Fungus...has acriflavin in it, right? (I'm at work...shhh ...lol) Acriflavin's good for mild cases of fin rot IMO. But I've been dealing with a case of fin rot that I had under control until I moved Samson to a larger tank and he went haywire in there and detroyed all the regrowth I've worked so hard for for weeks.

So he's in a 1/2 gallon hospital tank right now. When I first put him back in the hospital tank I used a dose of the Anti Fungus along with what I was using the first round: collodial silver (all natural product recommended by wuvmybetta) and bettafix (tea trea oil). After the recommended 48 hours for Anti Fungus, I did an almost 50% water change and put in another AP Plus product: Anti Bacteria (because he had some blood streaks). I dose with the silver every day (according to wuvmybetta you can't really overdose on the stuff) and bettafix about everyother day. I use a turkey baster to get the poop out of the water daily (btw...there's no gravel, plants or anything in the hospital tank with him right now). And per wuv's suggestion, I started last night feeding him Hikari frozen blood worms (for the vitamins). While he still has a few blood streaks, I noticed last night that he has some transparent/white regrowth (about less than a millimeter). It's just going to take a while to get his tail back to where it was.

After he's got some considerable regrowth...I may also put him in some Bettamax. (not fix).

I'm just trying not to use so many chemicals...particularly the stronger ones like Tetracycline or Neosulfex. But those are always options...

Oh..back to your question about AP Plus products (sorry got sidetracked). The very first one I used was their product for ick which was fantastic! The results with Anti Fungus and Anti Bacteria haven't been as speedy and fantastic...but I guess different problem takes different amount of time.

I'm glad to see someone else is using these products besides myself. I love the ease of dosing...no measuring with measuring spoons, just put the right amount of drops for your size tank.

p.s. If you'd care to...you can follow my fin rot trials in my Bettamax post in this forum

Thanks for the advice! I will keep my eyes open for that collodial silver and maybe pick up some Bettafix. *keepin' my fingers crossed!*
