hi again peeps

right.....last night I noticed that my mickey mouses(dont know what they really called but their orange with a black mickey mouse shape on the tail) under belly fins where white and looked a bit ragged as well as my tetras 1 or 2 were the same, its not the top or there tail fins just the underneath, there were no spots or swellings that i could see, if you've read any of my other posts you know I've had to do a complete water change and all the fish had to be caught... one of my sword tails has alreay died due to I think stress as there were no other symptoms. last time I had finrot on my sword tails i was given "meth Blue" so last night I put a dose into the tank, but then rememebered that last time it didn't really help the fin rot ...
what im wanting to know is

A: could these ragged fins be caused by the stress?
B:is "meth blue" what you would advise for fin rot just in case?

and before anyone asks yes the water is fine, checked it yesterday..
can someone advise as soon as possible as I'm going to the pet shop this afternoon, to collect my new stones and a proper net for catching...

becase im going to have to removed all the fish again to change the stones when I finish with the treatment for "what ever".. is there anything I can get that will help with the stress i.e FISH VALIUM? lol or is it a case of just being quick and gentle??

thank you
godzuki

forgot to add that all the fish are eating normal.... dont really know if there are "symptom" for fin rot other then the ragged fins as stress I havent a clue what the symptoms are other then death of course

Fin Rot is usually a secondary infection that comes about when the fish's immune system is too week to fight the bacteria that 'eat' the fins.

Meth Blue is an anti bacterial agent, and usually regarded as quite a good one, so it may well work for fin rot. I have no experience with it. Do a search (above) for the name and read up on some of the posts.
Personally, I would reccommend getting a specific Fin Rot medication (Interpet one worked for me) and following the instructions for it.

As for 'Fish Valium', there are no specific medications. You should treat your water prior to adding new fish (aqua safe for example), which can reduce the stress. Other than that, try to have a tank and habitat for your fish that wont worry them.

HTH, let us know how it goes. Oh, and what the fish are!
