I had a bad case of Fin Rot, ICH, & Fungus. One of my Serpaes lost part of the Tail. Infection seems to be gone. He's swiming around with the top part still intact but the bottom gone. I know he will re-grow it but does anyone now how long it will take? He can't really keep up with his buddy when they do laps or ring around the tree & I feel bad for the little guy. Hope he's a quick healer.

Probably 6 months before it looks normal again. I had a male guppy attacked by a serpae, who bit his tail all the way to his body. After one month with a minimal dose of Melafix, his tail is just beginning to get color and is growing back very slowly. When the tail does grow back, at first it will be transparent, then gradually the color comes back. This would probably happen with or without the Melafix, but I like to use it to discourage infection.

I wouldnt think it would take 6 months, I suppose it depends on the fish and the water quality. I had a Butterfly Moor once who had just a stump of a tail left after Ich, but all 4 1/2 inches of tail grew back fully in about 2 months, after sporadic treatment with Melafix. My girlfreind now refers to Melafix as 'miracle cure'.
