Fin rot cured???

OK i just got a new Betta fish a little over a week ago. About 2 days after i got him i noticed that he was comming down with fin rot. I have been medicating him with a medication called Betta Fix. It is made spicifically for bettas and is supposed to cure a number of different ailments including fin rot. I think that the fin rot has stopped spreading and it is not getting any worse, but his fins are still sort of grayish and transparent at the tips. When and how do i know when to stop medicating him? The medicine says to give him seven doses for seven days with out a water change. I have just given him his 6th dose so tomorrow will be the last one. How do i know if it has worked? Should i just change his water and start the medication over?

He is in a 1.5 gallon tank with an undergravel filter.

Follow the advice of the meds and watch him closely after you do the water change on day 8. If you see the fin rot coming back, start again...

It may take a while for the fins to come back completely. Don't know how long...depends on teh severity. (1+ weeks)
