Last night I noticed my male guppys tail looked like they had fin rot. The tips are getting stringy and turned white. This morning I found that there is a chunk out of his tail, probably a 1/5 of his tail is gone. Is this Fin rot? and chewing?

treat finrot with melafix but make sure the water is well airated i.e airstone running constently.

Finrot can be sign of bad water quality ie high ammonnia and nitrite. What are your readings? do you test the water?

I do not test the water, unfortunately. I have airstone, bubbling constantly (a lot of bubbles) and filter. Temp 82F. I will try to get medication, but petstore is not open today (i live in small town). I'm worried because he often swims with my female guppy, who is pregnant.

my pregnant guppy seems to maybe have got fin rot as well, not sure though, because of her light tail color.

Unfortunaltely, she did not pull through, her and the babies died while I was out.

Jefwic im really sorry about your loss. Have you tried keeping Platies or Swordtails? as they are stronger than guppies, i was adivised to give up keeping guppies and turn to platies and swordtails instead.

RIP GUPPY and BABS

Is the male still alive?

No, he died next morning, I had isolated him in a breeding trap (with circulation).
