Fin Nipped At Barb

i came back from school to day to find one of my 2 ATB fins nipped quite badly...

the problem is yes i know i should have them in groups of 3 or more really
buy i could add one more to my tiny 4.5 without overstoking at them moment

im also trying to get a new tank so i can boost the numbers...
so what should i do?

They're probably feeling cramped and grumpy, trying to chase each other off so they have more space. Getting a bigger tank is the best thing you can do. I don't know if adding one single more would help or not...if you had room for or three or four more than I'd say go for it but just one might just make them feel even more crowded and grumpy. I like to keep shoals of 8, with a minimum of 6, when it comes to barbs. IMO, saving up your money and getting a tank at least 20 gallons is the best plan of action. Add 4 tiger barbs and 5 cories and you'll be good to go!

yeh ive got money for a new tank but my mum wont let me have it till after me GSCE's whats 3 onths away
so im in the process of tring to perswade her 'help perswade her'
i was origionally going for the FLuval duo deep 800 but im not so sure now choosing the tank
