ive got three female betta and a male, arrived yesterday and one of them, aqua, has had a chunk tanken out of her tail, prob by the male, do i add melafix or salt, I heard that melafix can hinder their breathing.

Do you have the male living with the females? If so, then you should remove him. While there have been instances where a male can live in peace and harmony with females, it is far too risky. Males will occasionally kill females, or after being badgered, females will occasionally kill a male. It is a recipe for disaster, and I would sincerely hope that you do not leave them together.

The female in the pic is lovely, by the way. And it looks like a fairly clean chunk taken out. I'd add a little bit of aquarium salt to aid healing if you have it, and/or a little bit of Blackwater Extract. Anything stronger like proper medicine isn't necessary unless complications develop. (Would you go out and get an antibiotic if you had a scratch?)
