Hi There,

In need of some quick advice on the best and most quiet external filter for a 160ltr tank at the moment i have 2 Marina
S20 Slim Filters And there rather noisy any suggestions on what to do thanks.

People have different views on what quite, you wont get many complaints from tetratec users :good:

Ive heard that EHEIM is the best you can buy but there very expensive

Im getting an Eheim 2215 this week after lots of recommendations that they're near silent. Find the cheapest price you can online and see if your lfs will price match or go even lower, mine always does. Saves messing about with online companies if you have problems.

For a tank like yours i used a fluval 204.And currently i'm using a 305 for a bigger tank.
To me fluval filters are nearly silent but i can hear them every now and then. My 204 was on the floor i hardly remember hearing it. But my 305 is inside the cabinet so i do hear it a bit more than the 204.
How quiet it is depends on the person you ask. EHEIM are as you said very well regarded, and very silent. But more expensive.
Tetratec i never used it,but currently been hearing some good reviews on them.
But if you are looking for a no noise solution, you are just wasting your time and money. Every now and then filters make noise even the most quiet ones.

Well obviously im not look for a no noise solution as thats near enough impossible its just the filters i have at
the moment are very loud in my opinion compared to the interpet one i had in my smaller tank

Im just looking for a quiet relatively cheap external filter for a 160ltr tank :)

The filter i have at present has four cartridges per filter and they need replacing all the time and to be honest
the whole thing looks cheap and tacky :(

I have only heard good things about the Tetratec filters and they dont seem to expensive either so that might be the one.
