I was wondering, i bought a tank kit from petCo. the "all glass aquarium" one. i was wondering if anyone knows if the filter it comes with, power whisper i beleive, will provide proper filtration? (betta, 3 dwarf frogs, 3 otos) or should i look into getting another filter or a biger suited one.

10 g filter now, like upgrading to a 20 filter? then i was thinking.. would i have to start over the cycle again if i changed the filter? or is there a way to save some of the good bacteria?

and, a different fish store, told me that they didn't recomend the underground/ bottem filter due to its difficulty to clean/ maintain. i was wondering if this was really true, or notw. I plan on having live plants in my tank, so i don't know if that would effect the difficulty of cleaning it.

it seems to me that if i wanted to add more filtration to the tank a underground filter would be the eaisest way to go, but i am not sure about maintaince and all that.

thanks a lot!

I don't know about the filter that comes with it, but generally if you're having plants then avoid undergravel filters.

If you're having a betta don't get a filter that will have too much power, I've read that bettas don't like strong currents.

You could run the 2 filters at the same time while fishless cycling and after about 4 weeks take the old filter out. Thats what I did with my established tank when I changed filters. I did not cause a cycle.
