I'm looking for some advice/opinions. I recently picked up a used 180-gallon acrylic tank (6 ft x 2 ft x 2ft). I'm thinking about doing a planted community tank (eventually). The tank came with a sump, which I have no idea how to set up/maintain. I was thinking about capping the intakes for the sump and using two Eheims instead (a 2229 Wet/Dry and a 2128 Thermofilter). Does this sound like a good idea?

I would set up & run the sump. Why would you want to spend tall dollars on expensive filters when the sump will give you as good, if not better filtration for less money?

If it were my tank, and having no experience with sumps as I do, I would pm CFC, one of the mods on this forum. He has some large tanks, and I'm pretty sure he has a few sumps running.
