Hi, i just need to know is it ok to have the electric cable for the filter under water?

Thanks

Fast reply needed so i can pull it out LMAO if i need too.

(usually i keep the wire above water, but i wondered if it would make a difference in vibration or anything by putting it under.

it's probably made to go under water but you could check your manual or box or manufacturers website to be sure. if it's the one that came with the canister I can see in the pic then it will be.

anyway...if it wasn't supposed to be then you or your fish would have known about it by now!

as for the vibration, the cable itself won't matter. I have been trying to think of ways to reduce my vibration. Mine doesn't vibrate much, but I'm just being fussy as it is noticable when the lid is on. I'm thinking of trying some draught excluding foam strip or something as a rim between the lid and the glass.

Should be ok - that coating that goes on cables is waterpoof. My heater cable is underwater cos I can't make it stay out.

Have you made "drip loops" at the other end? This is important whether the cables are in or out of water.

If you find something to stop vibration or reduce it let me know :D.

all I mean by that is having some part of the cable which is lower than the socket. So if the socket is, say, 5" off your floor, let the cable hang down the the floor then go bac up the the socket. Then if by some random chance, a bit of water slides down the cable, it will drip onto the floor not into the socket.

Does that make sense? I can draw it if I have to but I'd rather not. :D chances are you've got them already.

well I didn't know what you meant before, but I've got the idea now, I suppose its simple when you think about it. Thanks a lot
