my filter sponge has carbon in it and i wanna take it out as the medicine that i put in my tank gets eaten up by the carbon and i dont want that i have a whisper tetra filter and i dont wanna buy a new sponge as all the bacteria thats in the filter would be gone i called my lfs and they told me to cut it and take out the carbon im scared to believe my lfs as i might just ruin the whole thing what is it i could do what should i do ??
