I want to buy more fish for my tank. I currently have three fish in it: one OB Zebra, one Copadichromis borleyi (I think), and one algae eater.
I bought the tank itself many years ago and it came with the filter I currently use. It's a top fin 60. However, some people told me this filter is not enough for the size of the tank, despite me only owning three fish (two of which are pretty big in size—4-6 inches).
Like I said, I want to eventually add more fish but I'm concerned about the tanks filtration.
What should I do? I really don't want to spend a lot of money (I am cheap), so what would be the cheapest way to go? One person suggested buying one other filter (one Marineland Penguin BIO-Wheel Power Filter), keeping the one I have, and running them both. If I did do that, the filter strengths would add up to 135 gallons, which is not 150 gallons, which is the size of my tank. Is 135 gallons enough for a 150-gallon tank that will not house many fish (I plan not to buy anymore then 7 fish)?
What is the cheapest way to go, and what do you all recommend?
