Filter Used For Saltwater

hi
i'm after a little advise if you could help.
i'm looking for an external filter for one of my tanks,
could i use a filter that has been used in a saltwater tank
for my fresh water tank,or am i asking for trouble.
it would be great if anyone could help.

I have a fluval external filter which was on my marine tank for about 3-4 years. I have just transferred it over to my tropical freshwater tank. No problems. Just make sure you give it a good clean out.

Yip,

wash out all the media and filter then move it to the tropical tank. Just remember that if its a soul filter itll need to be matured before adding fish to the tank. If its working with another filter then itll be fine to just add it to the current setup.
