So I finally setup my new tank and scaped it yesterday il sort out my journal when im not feeling lazy.. but my filter decided to leak all over the place.. luckily i have a spare to use.

My Filter was a fluval 406 and tbh i loved it how quieter it was and the way the media is layed out inside.. the leak is coming from the tap connector has anyone else had this issue and is it fixable? i did take the tap connector apart and try to fix cleaned the O rings but sadly no luck, i wonder if there is a "life Hack" to resolve the leak it seems to be a very very bad design

I can see online you can buy spare tap connectors but are not cheap to me and when will this one leak if its a common problem :/

The taps and connectors don't normally leak unless they are cracked. Shine a torch on it and see if there are any splits or cracks anywhere.

Did you smear Vaseline or anything over the o-rings? If not, try a thin layer of Vaseline on each o-ring and see if it helps.

Check the o-rings for flat edges anywhere on them. Over time they wear a flat section and can leak from there.

Not a common problem. Where in the UK are you. My 406 impellor failed over Christmas. Luckily I had a spare canister so I won't be repairing it. Happy to let the whole thing go for spares if you are able to collect.

Yea, I checked they are not cracked but maybe they got de-formed in some way or another i am not sure, they kinda just started doing it one day after doing a water change/clean when turning the taps, it was manageable until yesterday.

checked the o rings sadly they are not bespoke o rings and cant replace them, there is no damage to them, and I did use some silicon grease that I use for my o rings when scuba diving I know its marine safe presume it to be fresh water safe too. but no luck, it did help but still leaks.

I Like in Kent (Sittingbourne) but unfortunately I am unable to collect from anywhere unless you are super local to me at the moment. I really appreciate the offer tho.
