Hi everyone,

As some of you already know, I was gifted a 5gal tank by my hubby so I could have a little betta set-up. The tank came with a filter however imo it is way too strong for my betta as it pushes him around. I've read online that sponge filters are good for bettas but I would like to hear the opinion of some of the more experienced betta keepers on here because I've found online articles to be incorrect before!

Edit: If anyone has any good recommendations for filters then that would be much appreciated! :thanks:

Thank you! I think I might pop over to my LFS now and grab one.
Make sure you also have an air pump. (I know you probably know that. I just don't want you grabbing one and then possibly not having an air pump for it)

Yeah, scratch the stone...I forgot how sponge filters are set up...probably because I don't use them...I don't like sponges
I love sponges! 😅
I use one in my fry tank. Really useful in there

I have no bias...yet...
We'll see how I get along with this one
Lol.
It all depends on what air pump you use and what type of sponge filter you use. Just get a quality one of each and you should be good. Especially a quality air pump
