Filter Suggestions

I have a 55 gallon US Mbuna tank. I use a Regent 300 gph power filter and its not doing the job.
I am trying to decide between adding a second power filter, a smaller canister as a secondary, or a large canister. Or something else?

I have an aqua clear 300 and a whisper 300 on my 55g, 600gph, they work well together

dont know if it will fit, only 4 1/2" of clearance with the wall.

Yeah, go for the Emperor 400. I just ordered my second one from Big Al's yesterday for $36.99. They have the cartridges really cheap too, 4-pack for $8.99. You can take the carbon out and reuse them for a long time too. Can't beat these filters.

I have an Emperor 400 and an Aquaclear 500 on my 55g.

Which do you like better? Never used an AquaClear but I'm sure they're very good.

I was planning, and still am, a Mbuna tank.

I already have an aqualear 300, which pumps 300gph. I was gonna get an eheim canister filter to assist it with biological filtration as Mbuna tanks are generally overstocked therefore requiring larger biological filtration...

Well if you are poor like me, build a DIY filter! They are sooo simple, no complex parts or anything.
