Filter Stopped Working

My fluval 2 has stopped working, the impeller is working (spinning around) but there is only the tinyest amount of flow coming out. Its so annoying because I've rinsed pads, impeller, everything so its all clear in the bits I can get to, and Ive tried changing the angle of the output and also the rate of flow. The fish are starting to suffer I guess and its doing my head in!!! Any advice is much appreciated!

can you get an airstone for the time being until you can figure something out? so they don't drown in there

That's ok....I'm still fairly new to all this so am afraid I don't have much more help I can offer.....horray for airstones though!
