I'm looking into buying a eheim ecco filter for my 29g tank and was wondering what model i should buy. I've heard that they have a low flow rate and was hoping that someone with one could give me some advice. I have some guppies, swordtails, a bristlenose pleco and a couple of shrimp in the tank. I'd like to get the bigest filter possible without stressing my fish.

Thanks
John

Well the Ecco's come in three different sizes, the 2232 is rated for up to 35 gallons and would probably be perfectly fine for your tank. It has a turnover rate of 127 gallons per hour which would give you about 4.5 times an hour your water would be filtered, that number coupled with the large surface area of the media in a canister should be plenty. Filtration per hour numbers are generally overrated, but eheim seems to be pretty good at keeping them real. They actually have their eheim classic filters that are only rated to turn over the water twice but are rated for 55 gallon tanks.
You should be fine with the Ecco 2232.
