Filter Question

I have 2 filters similar to this

And I was wondering if I could maybe put a sponge on the hose that sucks up the water to prevent any guppy fry to get sucked up into the filter or should I just make a couple sponge filters with my bubbler?

Don't see any reason why you can't put a sponge on the intake. Might slow the flow a bit, but it works.

Or you could cut some old tights (stockings) up and tie some round the intake to stop the fry being sucked up

I found something at at pet store that was made to put on the intake(its actually just a sponge made to fit lol) it was only a buck so im gonna give it a try. Thanks for the input! I may have to try the stockings idea one of these days!
