Hi my new tank came today complete with filter, I have never seen a filter like this . I sits in the hood of the tank with a long pole leading to the bottom and a pole with holes in that runs inside the hood, some one said it sounds like a trickle filter can any one tell me how to use it and what filter pads to use with it , or is it better to go and get a normal filter? Please help me!

Sounds like a trickle, or some sort of HOB filter... Unless you are planning a very light bioload ( ie not many fish) I would opt for an external cannister filter, or more traditional internal.

I'd like a picture before passing judgement on the filter. LOL

It sounds like the filter might be a canister filter.

Once I see the picture, we can figure it out. ;)

I think that you are talking about those marineland Bio-wheel's that are built in on the hood? Here is a link: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-8...gt_adv_XSN10001
Read what feature's it has. They are pretty good filter's, and have a good bio-load capacity. But if your tank is that small, there is almost nothing you could put in there besides a few mollies, or guppies, or a betta.
