Hi, i Have a 20 gallon tank which has an internal filter but to be honest i hate pulling it out and cleaning it etc. Thats why ive decided to get an external filter. I have a tetra ex700 i can get my hands on and was wondering whether it wont be too powerfull seen as its for tanks ranging from 100 to 250 lts wheras my tank is around 90 lts... It won't create a really strong current or anything will it? Ive never used an external filter before. :/

Thanks

Personally, I would go with Hagen filters. I have one and you can control the flow of the water. But besides this, from personal experience, I would get a filter that seems a bit big for your tank. It's better to overfilter than underfilter. If you have a 20 gallon filter, I'd get something that describes 20g as the lowest possible volume and not somewhere in the middle. For example, my 10 gallon has a filter that describes to be good for "5-20 gallon tanks." That's a pretty big range! I find it to be too small to filter my tank, probably because 10 is inbetween 5 and 20. Have I lost you? :fun:

If you were to get a Hagan filter, I'd go with the 20-50. Hagan filters are very similar to Tetra filters, but you can control the flow of them. That's what I like most about them.

Hey thanks for the reply and no you didn't lose me. Well, going by what you said this filter should be ok apart from me not being able to regulate its flow. The tank i want it for is around 90l and the minimum recommended tank size for the filter is 100l, the maximimum is 250l. So my tank is less than half the size the filter can take...Have i lost you? :D

As for Hagan filters i haven't come across any to be honest :(

I use the Ex 700 on my 12g tank so you shouldnt have a problem on a 20g.
You can regulate the flow on the taps near the filter. Just turn down the input and output.
