I'm about to set up a new tank 80cm x 35 cm = 125 ltr, which I will be adding plants to at the end of this week.

I have a Fluval u4 internal filter which I know is a bit powerful for the size of the tank, because I'm adding plants the front of the tank will be more open, so should I position the filter so that the main flow will be along the front of the tank. ?

I will also be fishless cycling the tank, I intend to keep community fish plus a pair of Dwarf Cichlids.

Cheers Jeff.

Can anyone say if the flow will be too much for the plants, if the flow is directed at them.

The U4 has a sort of 'spray bar' that you can adjust so the flow is from the top, the bottom, or all the way along for planted tanks. Most plants don't like too high a flow; you want them making a gentle waving motion, not being lashed like a wheatfield in a storm :)

Thanks for the reply I'll try and adjust it so that they're gently swaying then. :good:
