Hi all,

Has anybody got any diagrams of recommended external filter set up (with or without undergravel filter) showing the pipework and parts required etc.

I want to be armed with info when going to the local supplier so I'm not sold more item than I need!

Thanks

Hi Gixer

I am buying a new filter (possibly Fluval 204) - didn't realise everything came with it....I though you got the filter cannister and had to supply the other end of the setup yourself.

Do you have any recommendations for an external filter (30" x 12" tank)

Thanks

everything you need will come with it, is money an issue or do you want the best available?... also what are you planning to keep in this tank?

Money is an issue but I'd rather spend more money on decent kit than buy cheap 'rubbish'!

I haven't got as far as choosing the fish types yet. Just trying to get my head around the available hardware.

I will be looking for a few hardy fish until I am a bit more experienced. What fish would you recommend? Would like some colourful species in there.

Thanks

i would go for a decent canister filter. have a look at eheims..

Have a look into what type of fish you like the looks of and let us know what u like and we can try and help with what will be suitable. ;)

also..where are you from...do you have hard/soft water etc.. all factors to help you decide what fish are best for you.

Hi,

We have fairly hard water where I am (Coventry, UK).

I'm going to my lfs at the weekend so I'll have a good look at the fish and decide which types I want.

Do some fish prefer more water movement than others?

Thanks
