Filter Pipes Both At One End?

whats best for filter performance?

should i have both inlet and outlet at the same end of the tank or is it best to have one at each end(like the outlet at opposite end flowing towards inlet)?

also how far off the bottom do you have the intake tube?

Hi,

You can have the intake and outlet at the same end. Unless you have a small tank, you probably won't have enough piping to have one at each end anyway. I can't see much benefit in having one at each end.

I would aim to have the intake 1 - 2 inches above the substrate. You don't want it to suck up your substrate.
