filter not working

my filter does not seem to be working properly..it isnt taking in any of the bits in the tank and now there are lots of bits floating around. normally they go in the filter but they are not going in

it's also making strange noises..before it used to make a noise for about 10 seconds once very few minutes but now the noise seems to stay on for ages and makes really loud noises for a long time

How long have you had it?
Have you cleaned the impeller?
Try giving it a thorough clean and see if that helps

only had it 2 and a half weeks..at the moment the carbon filter is out because i'm treating for ich but it was working ok the other day

The impeller is the thing that wizzes arond inside the filter so water is sucked into it.

If its only 2 weeks old take it back for a replacemnet, thats what I'd do.

get the instructions and take it apart and give it a realy good clean + impeller. and the bit in the bak where it sucks in the water,.. there might be bits of dead plants blocking it up and stoping it from working,.
