any noise that the fish can hear/feel can be a stressor. Watch the fish and make sure they are acting normally. What kind of noise do you have? It is odd for a filter to make too much noise unless it is vibrating off the glass or another object. keep us posted
it makes a low droning noise, its quite normal i believe. i was just wondering because if you can hear from the outside, it must be a lot louder in the water.
If it doesnt stress the fish then dont worry about it. If the fish are stressed you will be able to tell as the activity level in active fish will usually drop and the fish will be very jumpy when they feel vibrations and their color will be faded or they will not eat properly or at all. Also they often hide when stressed. HTH
One of my tank is right next to the TV and they have absolutely no problem. It seems that the constant noise produced is ok - they only startle when I turn the TV on for the first time...
I agree, unless it obviously makes them freak, I don't think it's going to cause any problems. My radio is right next to my tank and the fish aren't bothered by the music (though I couldn't same the same about my family)
