Filter Media

If i have some filter media that has good bacteria in it and i want to use it on my new cycling tank where do i put it? Should i find a way to put it in the filter or just hang it in the tank or what? Please help thanks

Put it right up against the new one, back to back with the good bacteria one before the empty one is best.

Red one is the one with good bacteria.

Excellent! Great diagram DNR! Fully agree, those bacteria need that fresh water that's flowing *inside* the filter. And putting them -just prior- (in the flow) as DNR shows, is quite optimal.
