Filter Killingfish?

I think my fish are getting stuck to the filter thing that sucks up water. HOw can I prevent this?

There are adapters that are made specifically to go over the intake on your filter, or you can go low-tech and rubber band the tip of a new (not washed w/soap) stocking over the intake. Just make sure you rinse out the stocking when you do water changes because it won't allow larger particles to be pulled into the filter.

Okay thanks but wont they still get pilled with the stocking?

It shouldn't unless your filter is WAY to powerful for the tank size. The stocking would diffuse the suctions somewhat and your fish should be able to swim away.

Are you sure they are not already sick/dead and too weak to keep away from the filter?

A filter sponge works better than netting or screen. Unless you are dealing with fry, a fish stuck to the filter intake is usually dead or dying before it gets stuck.
