ok to cut a long story short i decided to a survival of the fittest of my fry as i have many so i put them in my tank but what i didnt expect was them to be sucked up by my filter at this rate i wont have any left the filter i have is a interpet pf3 filter and were the fry are getting sucked in is a strange place i think any way .............its were you adjust the flow of the filter at either side of the switch there are gaps i have seen 3 fry get sucked in there within the last 5 mins can anyone help please ? also i dont think the fry are getting sucked in the filter any where else thanks in advance joe

I'm not familar with that filter, but is there anyway you can put a breeder net or piece of pantyhose over where they are getting sucked in to prevent it?

Do exactly as Annastasia said. Put something over the filer intake to prevent this...

If you have an old fish net you could use this as well. Just cut a peace to go over the filter intake.

What kind of fry do you have?

Thanks,
Colen.

ok ill give it a go thanks but wont the fry get stuck to the net ??? i know it sounds funny but i just want to make sure and its molly fry btw

No, they should be able to get away from the net. Molly fry are probably the biggest as the common Livebearer fry go, so they'll also be the strongest.

Did you get the three out that got sucked in?

Hi red pleco, can you get a hold of some sponge material? Wrap the sponge material around your intakes and tie rubber bands around it. This is the method I use to keep fry from getting sucked up the intake tubes.

unfortunately i didnt get the fry out in time ...............but thanks for your ideas ............and also thanks to fishing4exotics for your other methods ill give them all a try i suppose and see what works best

Hey,

I had fry living in my filter, they were fine, the sponge stopped them from getting cut up...
