Filter Idea

I have a Juwel 180 Tank with and internal filter. I am going to put an Eheim 2213 External Canister Filter as the internal filter is to loud and I will be able to soundproof my cabinet for the external filter. Now my idea is, I remove the powerhead from the internal filter and fit the inlet pipe from the external filter where the hole would be. That way the external filter will suck water through the internal filters sponge and then into the external filter so the water will be double filtered. Does anyone think this will work ( I cant see why not) and will it make the filteration any better or worse.

That sounds like a neat idea

IMO it would put an additional load on the pump and that may not be good in the long run.

Had a better idea, i will run both seperatly through the day. Then switch the internal one off at night and divert the inlet of the external filter inlet to draw water through the internal filters sponge. shouldn't be that difficult with a few pipes and stop valves
