HI!

I just purchased a 46 gallon tank, and plan on adding 3-4 fishies and a few anemones/corals, eventually. I;m a newbie, however, so I want to do this right the first time!

I bought a FLUVAL MSF 304 Power Canister Filter. Do I need another filter, as well? Or will this one do? I've read more than a few books on the subject, and they all say something different, so I am completely confused! Any advice given would be GREATLY appreciated! :D

You might want to ask this in the Saltwater sections.

I don't know much about saltwater tanks (or Fluvals, for that matter), but I was always under the impression that reef tanks don't usually require explicit filtration -- only water movement and protein skimming. Could be wrong.

I would suggest using a Wet/Dry filter. The carbon may remove essential chemicals you add into the tank. Also, the biological media is not necessary since it may cause an excess amount of nitrates, which you don't want.

What kind of fish do you want to add? Make sure you do not overstock your tank and that it is cycled first. I suggest using damsels to cycle your tank.
