Filter help please 🙏

Recently changed my filter to an Eheim pro 4+ 350 cannister filter. Set up and working no problems but can anyone tell me what this dial is for please? I've googled and youtubed and I'm none the wiser

Thank you. It did have a manual but I couldn't see anything about that dial. Thank you for your help

If your polishing media gets clogged up and reduces flow, you can use the Xtender dial to redirect water flow and keep your filter operating for a bit longer without needing to open up the canister and changing the polishing pad.
