Hey everyone, I have an Fx5 filter filtering a 90g tank. The tank has 4 bichirs, and I have not done a water change in a week and a half (I was supposed to do it today, but it did not work out). Today I attempted to add a UV clarifier, which did not work out (wrong one). In the process of doing this, I must have cracked the tube. Where it connects to the barrel valve, where the rubber seal and plastic meet, it is cracked. I set up a battery powered air pump. I have school tomorrow, and realistically get out at 4pm. The crack happened about 5 hours ago. The filter was still on until 10:30, so 4.5 hours. It lost an estimated 5 gallons of water. So basically it will be 24 hours since when the crack happened, or 19 hours since the filter was turned off until I can get it fixed. Will the fish survive?

Can you post a photo of where the damage is please as its quite difficult to visualise..

If the hose is split, you can trim the hose down to below the split and refit as normal.....you can trim down the other hose to the same length later when you have more time

If the housing where the hose attaches is damaged, you should be able to use superglue gel (the runny one will be too hard to aim at the right point) and then retrofit the hose back onto it within a few minutes

Dry and then Super glue the plastic.

If you need to turn the filter off, clean the media in a bucket of tank water and put the media in the aquarium. The filter bacteria will survive longer in the aquarium.
