USA,
so my filter died, I guess thats why it was cloudy. But now I got a new one, and I dont know what will happen to the fish. The other just stopped working. No reason what so ever.

If you got a similar sized filter I would take your old filter insert and put it in the new one. That way you will still have some beneficial bacteria.
That bacteria is also in your graval.

I am currently cycling a new filter and am not having any problems. Just watch the chemical levels and do a water change if neccessary. Also, there is this water conditioner called AmQuel + by Kordon that removes Nitrites, Nitrates, and Ammonia. It works great! :D

its the same size etc and has been in now for a few days and no deaths. Waters nice and clear now that the filter works.

Isnt one of those N things supposed to be in the tank?

Don't put that in your tank. It stresses out the fish dramatically and reduces the oxygen in the tank. Make sure you have your old cartridge in the tank. If you didn't put it in yet, don't do it, it's too late. Also, make sure you check your parameters, keep us posted on the nitrites, ammonia, and nitrate levels.
