Filter and placement

I have a 55gallon tank that has two sides and I can't put it in the middle of the tank so I put it on the left side of the back of the tank is that alright? I have an Emperor 400. Should I put my powerhead on the other side and aim it to ther other side for circulation? Any suggestions?

The filter off to one side should be fine. If this is the tank you are cycling, you really don't need to run the powerhead if there are no fish. The powerhead can be placed just about anywhere, experiment a bit once you have fish to see if they seem to like it one way or another. I use powerheads to make filters & put them all the way on the bottom to circulate the water down there, keeping the debris off the bottom where it is more easily picked up by the filter.
