Hi

Am looking for some advice please.I am a 150 lt tank containg up to 30 fish, plecs, bottom feeders, guppies and roaches mainly.

My problem is i am due a complete rewire on my home in the coming weeks and to make it easier for the electricians we are going on holiday for 10 days. The electrians says it will take up to 5 days, for these 5 days i will have no power, even to the fridge as i have agreed a total disconnect. The filter pump often needs a little help to start again so could be of the whole 10 days

Will my fish survive for the 10 days without the fitler running. cheers

get them to put a temp supply just for your fish tank it will take them 5 minutes to do

The fish probably will, but if the filter dries out the bacteria will die and you'll have to cycle the tank again. But if you've got no electricity, what about the light and heat for the tank?

what kind of filter is it? You may be able to just put the filter media in the water and that will be good enough for a temporary solution. I always float my bio-wheels in the tank during a long power outage and never registered any ammonia or nitrite after one.
