i live in a second floor apartment and have just completed building my new stand - ameriwood rattan-front for 55 gallon tank (not real wood). it said something in the directions (in 'fine print') suggesting attaching/anchoring the stand to a stud/the wall.

on top of that. i have it about 2-3" full of water now and the left front side is probably a half inch deeper than the rest of the tank. what does this mean, and do i need to move the setup?

By anchoring the stand to a wall it gives the stand better security from bumps.

Most stands a re a little out, but half an inch seems a lot.

I would empty the tank and put a spirit level on the stand and if necessary chock it up to make it as level as possible.

As added security put some polystyrene under the tank to help absorb any slight imperfections.
