Am I right in saying that you can just add water from the tap to your tank but you must condition it, or if you are fishless cycling will all the crap in the water disapear or do you have to still condition it?
oh also as well does it really matter about the ph level? can i just leave it to sort its own ph out?

Yes you can add water from the tap and yes you must condition it with or without fish. If you don't use the water conditioner then the Chlorine and Chloramine will kill the bacteria which is what makes the tank safe for the fish. Just remember when your cycle is complete and you have added the fish that the water you add should be the same temperature as that in your tank.

PH is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity and can be anywhere from 0 (acidic) to 14 (alkaline). First find out what your PH level is with a test kit then look at the types of fish you would like to keep. Most fish are fine between values of 6-8 but some species do require the PH a Little lower or higher. Unless you are going for fish that require out of the normal PH values..I would leave the PH as is.
