filetr in diseased fish tank

i have a whisper filter that came in my 2.5g betta starter kit, what should i do with it? do i need a new one? or can i still use it? the poor fishie has "ich" they were in the same tank with a divider, also what is the best way to clean it? thanks

im not sure exactly, it said to wash it over tap water before i put it in? if that helps, umm im treating it with teramycycle(sp)? and also some "rid ich". it seems to have gotten worse! ahhh

Don't rinse your filter with tap water. That can kill any beneficial bacteria you have in there. Instead rinse with tank water or the de-chlorinated water prepared for water changes.
